Joy of best

Every day, life is full. It takes a lot to get 3 meals on the table, to keep the clothes clean and gas in the car. We're all busy and many times it seems that the ordinary and mundane take an unfair amount of time. It's easy to slip into a habit of doing "what has to be done", chores, and being resentful or wishing that we were having "more fun". One thing to do is enjoy what you are doing. More on that elsewhere. You can also do whatever you are doing to the best of your ability. Ironing, emptying the trash, mowing the lawn, homework, cooking, driving to the store, shopping: everything you do, you choose how much effort you are going to give it. When you do the best that you can something special happens. You create energy. When you “give it your best shot”, when you commit yourself to completing the action to the best of your ability, it feels good. Even if you tried your best and “fail” or miss your goal, it still feels good. We call this “Joy of best”. It's another way we have to create energy for ourselves and others. You feel good as a result of "giving it your all" and people around you benefit too. People around you get their phone message, have clean trash cans, groceries to eat... and more importantly you have more energy and power to give and share.

Everyone can do their best.

People are constantly compared and rated. In school there are grades. In the workplace, one person gets paid more than another and that implies they are worth more. "Joy of Best" doesn't discriminate based on ability. You can have an IQ of 147 or 80. You can be the President of the company or a member of the night cleaning staff. Everyone has the same chances and the same resulting increase in energy and power when they do their best. "Joy of best" is another way that God talks to you and lets you know that your life has meaning. "Joy of Best" is a way to create energy for yourself, for your selves. "Joy of Best" is a way for you to give and share the special gifts that are yours. The choice is yours, you can get the job done; mission accomplished. Or you can do the job to the best of your ability: mission energized. You've taken a "have to" and used it to create energy.

Try This:

Do you best and be aware. Next time you do something the very best you can, even something simple like emptying the trash or answering the phone and taking a message for a family member, check out how you feel about what you did.
